Before you pick up the food to eat, take a couple of a deep breaths--in through the nose and out through the mouth. Just to allow the mind and body to settle. Eat slowly. Focus on each sensation of your first bite in turn: smell, sight, sound, and taste. Immerse yourself in the richness of the practice of eating and try to eat your whole meal slowly. You will reduce stress, improve your digestive functioning and reduce overeating and weight gain.
